Isaiah 60:9-22

⁹For ^(A)the coastlands shall hope for me,
    ^(B)the ships of Tarshish first,
^(C)to bring your children from afar,
    their silver and gold with them,
for the name of the Lord your God,
    and for the Holy One of Israel,
    because ^(D)he has made you beautiful.

¹⁰^(E)Foreigners shall build up your walls,
    and ^(F)their kings shall minister to you;
for in my wrath I struck you,
    but in my favor I have had mercy on you.
¹¹^(G)Your gates shall be open continually;
    day and night they shall not be shut,
^(H)that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations,
    with their kings led in procession.
¹²^(I)For the nation and kingdom
    that will not serve you shall perish;
    those nations shall be utterly laid waste.
¹³^(J)The glory of Lebanon shall come to you,
    the cypress, the plane, and ^(K)the pine,
to beautify the place of my sanctuary,
    and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
¹⁴^(L)The sons of those who afflicted you
    shall come bending low to you,
^(M)and all who despised you
    shall bow down at your feet;
^(N)they shall call you the City of the Lord,
    the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁵^(O)Whereas you have been forsaken and hated,
    with no one passing through,
^(P)I will make you majestic forever,
    a joy from age to age.
¹⁶^(Q)You shall suck the milk of nations;
    you shall nurse at the breast of kings;
and you shall know that ^(R)I, the Lord, am your Savior
    and your Redeemer, ^(S)the Mighty One of Jacob.

¹⁷Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
    and instead of iron I will bring silver;
instead of wood, bronze,
    instead of stones, iron.
I will make your overseers peace
    ^(T)and your taskmasters righteousness.
¹⁸^(U)Violence shall no more be heard in your land,
    devastation or destruction within your borders;
^(V)you shall call your walls Salvation,
    and your gates Praise.

¹⁹^(W)The sun shall be no more
    your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
    give you light;^[a]
but the Lord will be your everlasting light,
    and your God will be your glory.^[b]
²⁰Your sun shall no more go down,
    nor your moon withdraw itself;
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
    and ^(X)your days of mourning shall be ended.
²¹^(Y)Your people shall all be righteous;
    ^(Z)they shall possess the land forever,
^(AA)the branch of my planting, the work of my hands,
    that I might be glorified.^[c]
²²^(AB)The least one shall become a clan,
    and the smallest one a mighty nation;
^(AC)I am the Lord;
    in its time I will hasten it.

The Wedding at Cana

2 On ^(A)the third day there was a wedding at ^(B)Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. ²Jesus also was invited to the wedding with ^(C)his disciples. ³When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” ⁴And Jesus said to her, ^(D)“Woman, ^(E)what does this have to do with me? ^(F)My hour has not yet come.” ⁵His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

⁶Now there were six stone water jars there ^(G)for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty ^(H)gallons.^[a] ⁷Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. ⁸And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. ⁹When the master of the feast tasted ^(I)the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom ¹⁰and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” ¹¹This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested ^(J)his glory. And ^(K)his disciples believed in him.
